Theatre to love and cherish
Keep the magic of theatre alive by donating today and help us maintain the great tradition that is the Newcastle Theatre Royal.
The Newcastle Theatre Royal Trust is an independent charity and we receive no funding. We rely on our share of tickets sales; we only keep a small proportion of ticket income which pays for the running of the theatre.
Like the other great Grade 1 Listed buildings of Britain, costs of conservation at the Theatre are high, as is ensuring that the building itself as well as our productions are accessible to all. But alongside the programme of plays, musicals, opera and ballet, and of course our pantomime, we run extensive community, education and participation activities.
All this work needs constant financial support. As an independent charitable trust our future depends on you. However large or small, your gift will make a difference – you will help to maintain the great tradition that is the Newcastle Theatre Royal.
Gift Aid – Use Gift Aid and you can make your donation worth more. For every £1 you donate, we will be able to claim an extra 25p from the Inland Revenue. A £10 donation could be worth £12.50. Imagine what a difference that could make, and it doesn’t cost you a thing.

Legacy
For more than 183 years Newcastle Theatre Royal has welcomed some of the world’s finest writers, directors and performers onto its historic stage. The theatre presents the best in touring theatre, offering everything from drama to musicals, comedy to opera and ballet and its nationally renowned, record-breaking pantomime. The Theatre has established two separate funds to support educational work and the upkeep of the theatre building.
The Education Fund
Our Education team deliver an extensive programme of educational and participatory projects for the benefit of our local community and beyond, year round. Our wide ranging creative projects ensure we are fully accessible to all, regardless of age, gender or disability and we provide specialist provision for talent development. This invaluable work can only continue with your support.
The Restoration Fund
The theatre has undergone an extensive restoration programme in recent years, but the upkeep of such an important and historic building is never ending and we must continue to ensure the region’s most loved theatre continues to be appealing and comfortable, and attract audiences. The cost of maintaining the building to a high standard is extremely expensive and only possible with support.

We need your support
‘I am asking you to remember your love and passion for live theatre and to leave something to the Theatre Royal in your will. Once the needs of your close family and friends are met, a gift left in your will is a wonderful way to help secure the building and its work for future generations. We are a registered charity and receive no revenue funding; your gift will allow us to entertain and inspire future generations in the magnificent setting that has given you joy over the years.’
